Last July, the new Geocentro inert waste recovery and storage center was inaugurated in Codevigo (PD).
The Geocentro site hosts a cutting-edge plant for the reduction and sorting of construction and demolition waste, entirely developed and built by our CAMS team!
The Geocentro project was born from the partnership with the Veneto-based company VPS Srl, which chose us to build an innovative plant for the storage, management, and recovery of waste and inert materials, even the bulkiest and most difficult to manage ones, coming from the construction sector, decommissioning, waterworks, and environmental remediation.
The plant design lasted twelve months, during which we created a processing cycle that allows the treatment of both clean materials (mainly rocky excavated material) and highly earthy ones. The patented system is extremely flexible and versatile, improving the characteristics of incoming materials in order to obtain a more performing output, 100% reusable.
The work cycle developed by the plant allows the production of “a recycled material with a quality even higher than virgin material,” in the words of Claudio Viel, owner of VPS Srl and Geocentro:
- The plant can process up to 250 m³ of material per hour.
- The entire material recovery process is managed from a dedicated control station by a single operator.
- Activity monitoring is performed through management software for accurate evaluation of material types and process control.

Environmental sustainability, circular economy, technological innovation, conscious waste management, and End of Waste production in a single plant
“Giving value back to the earth” is Geocentro’s motto, a green facility fully powered by electricity, with the integration of a photovoltaic system, making it completely sustainable from an energy perspective. The center covers 17,000 m², including a 5,400 m² covered area for waste storage and an 11,600 m² paved open area with loading and unloading bays.
The recovery processes allow the production of End Of Waste materials, reusable for filling operations up to highly processed materials for engineering works and large structures, giving new life to materials once considered “waste.”
The plant also includes a UTS 1500 crusher with electric power supply (the largest Cams crusher in the UTS line) and a UVS 42 vibrating screen, also fully electric.
